Mentoring at JHP

The JHP Mentoring Program is an extremely successful program that introduces JHP interns to Jewish professionals through internships, career shadowing, mentoring receptions and mentoring sessions. As a result of the JHP Mentoring Program, college students are entering the job world with important experience in networking, some career connections and in some cases, significant job experience. Equally important, the Jewish professionals show the JHP students that it is possible to keep a Jewish identity while being very successful in their chosen careers.

Students meet with mentors in a group setting or over a telephone call . Mentors can also be available for “shadowing,” allowing a student to visit the Mentor at work, and follow him or her around for a day or more, giving the student hands on exposure to a field. A Mentor can also help a student find paid and unpaid internships, or even summer and post-college employment.

JHP Mentors are in a myriad of fields, such as business, law, politics, medicine, education, government, finance, journalism, social services, communications, Jewish education, entertainment and the arts. Some of our mentors include CEO of Bear Stearns, James Cayne, Michael Steinhardt, Philanthropist, George Rohr,
President of NCH Capital, Marlene Post, Chair of Birthright Israel and former President of National Hadassah, and Dan Och, Co-founder of Och-Ziff Management, Philadelphia District Attorney Lynn Abraham and Comcast Vice President David L. Cohen.
