Young Professional Network’s Leadership Trip to Israel

This 10-day partially subsidized leadership retreat includes a traditional Shabbos in Jerusalem, exploration of Jewish sites, community service opportunities, hotel stays, and kosher meals

Trip participants are selected for their leadership abilities and their potential to become the Philadelphia community's future community builders and leaders. Participants build their community before and after the trip. Beforehand, they familiarize themselves with our network and events and attend education sessions so they can start making a community impact when they return. After the trip, participants serve on JHP event committees to advocate, plan, and execute dinners, business and mentoring network events and holiday parties that grow the community.

“I cannot wait to experience Israel again and go even deeper this time—not only traveling to tourist attractions like my first time, but also experiencing the typical life of Israeli citizens.  I am truly excited for this trip, and I think the group traveling will be a wonderful way to connect even further with the Jewish community of Philadelphia.”
—Carly Gordon, 25

Being able to go to Israel with a group of my peers will really connect us to our culture, heritage, and the State of Israel.
We will bond with other Philadelphia young professionals in Israel and bring back a sense of understanding that will translate into helping our local community for years to come.

—Stephanie Sorkin, YPN participant

JHP’s Birthright Israel Trip

Unlike other BRI trips, JHP Israel trip participants build community and bonds before their trip and connect their Israel experience to a lasting Jewish community when they return. During the trip, we present a unique spectrum of cultural, historical, spiritual and action-packed experiences designed to foster personal relationships with Israel, Judaism, and peers that resonate for years.
In Israel participants experience

  • A compelling chronology spanning centuries of conflict, resolution, and hope
  • A personal look at contemporary Israeli issues delivered by diverse speakers including members of the Knesset and the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange
  • Opportunities for learning Torah and Jewish spirituality
  • Shabbos hospitality and friendly Shabbos services
  • Adventures that include rappelling, hiking, camel rides, story-telling around Bedouin camp fires and much more
  • Education modules presented by our staff
The trip is provided as a gift through Birthright Israel and covers roundtrip airfare plus, room and board, and 10-days of programming in Israel. Any 18-27 year-old Jew who has never been to Israel on a peer-group educational program is eligible to apply. For more about JHP’s Birthright Israel trip, click here.
