First Time Ever/Record Breaking JHP At Temple
JHP Shabbat for 100

A record breaking, first time ever 92 Temple students celebrate JHP’s Shabbat for 100. Not only is the number of students attending significant, but the event was held, for the first time in the Student Center, on campus. Another record, more than 50 new students attended this event, due to the efforts of our JHP Fellow, Alissa Vladimir & her crew of interns.

First On Campus JHP Mentoring Event
Also through the efforts of Alissa Vladimir & her JHP interns, a mentoring event was held on campus for the first time. Among the honored guests, who also spoke to the students, were the Dean of Fox School of Business, Moshe Porat, Richard J. Fox, the school’s namesake and Gary Erlbaum, an avid and generous JHP supporter.

New, Never Before, JHP Office On Campus
A never before new JHP office on campus was established where Alissa holds court when at Temple and her interns have office hours.

JHP Helped Bring Food & A Caring Smile To 2,035 Jewish Families
Sunday, JHP Penn interns volunteered their time to work with JRA in boxing food to distribute to 2,035 Jewish families in the Northeast Philly area. JHP helped lessen the burden on these families who do not have sufficient resources to meet their daily needs.

Quote of the Week

“When I first joined JHP, I could barely comprehend the magnitude of what the organization does. The sense of excitement amongst JHP members is unparalleled. From BBQs to sushi-making to Shabbat dinners, there’s always something brewing. Community service events, for example, have brought students together for valuable causes – whether we’re making PB&J sandwiches for the homeless on College Green when spring finally rolls around or packaging and distributing monthly food boxes on behalf of the Jewish Relief Agency.”

JHP- A Deeper Look

As part of the JHP approach to better the lives of Jewish students, community service plays an active role. Providing food for the needy during Mitzvah week, writing letters, sending greetings and gifts to Jewish Soldiers in action, taking part in community service activities with other Jewish organizations such as JRA and raising money for other worthwhile Jewish causes builds character and broadens their outlook by having experiences outside their comfort level. The students by making contributions in these efforts realize the value of giving back to the community.
