Shabbos By Nacht At The Shore
Chani & Rabbi Zev Baram brought the gift & array of Shabbos to the shore for 50 Young Professionals of JHP. These JHPers, who usually enjoy the attractions of shore life, opted to vacation last Shabbos evening with Chani & Zev at the new Chabad House, a block from the ocean on Ventnor Avenue. Chani’s homemade traditional cooking and the light of Shabbos brought new people together as they mingled with each other in a relaxed, uplifting, spiritual atmosphere.

A native of Russia, Maria Prozorov and her parents were restricted from practicing any religion in the communist ruled country. They remained secular even after moving to the U.S. in 1990. If it weren’t for her involvement with JHP, Prozorov would still lack the connection she wants to the Jewish faith. Since coming to Temple, she has learned more about the religion, even teaching her parents a thing or two about Judaism.
“When I came here I looked at every Jewish organization, and I liked the Jewish Heritage Programs the most. I’m more practicing, but nowhere near where I want to be. Every year I learn a bit more and eventually I’d like to be up there with everybody. My mom & dad have learned a lot more because I’ve been bringing it home.” - Maria Prozorov, now a Temple student who moved from Russia to the USA when she was three-and-a-half years old.
