Tamar Trocki, JHP Fellow, NYU

Tamar grew up in Manhattan. Throughout her teens and early college days, Tamar had been searching, looking for something, but not knowing exactly what. Even while experiencing all that Manhattan had to offer, playing the piano, horseback riding and playing basketball, there still seemed to be something missing. There was a drive to get involved and connect, not realizing until recently that that searching was directed towards making a connection with her Jewish roots.

In her sophomore year Tamar was introduced to JHP at NYU's Club Fair. She liked what she heard and saw. To Tamar JHP seemed to satisfy her yearning to connect and get involved with something on campus and offered a great way to meet new Jewish people. "JHP filled all my needs and was exactly what I was looking for."

"I found out about Birthright through JHP and I went last summer. I loved it so much that I recruited for Birthright and went to Israel again this summer as a staff member." Tamar was so affected that she will continue to recruit for Birthright as she believes that the program is an invaluable gift. Tamar also has an unwavering desire & commitment to get involved in other Jewish causes and organizations.

Tamar became a JHP intern in the middle of her sophomore year. She believed sincerely in the mission of JHP, to link unaffiliated Jewish students with their heritage, and as Tamar puts it, "in a way that only JHP can do."  She had a new purpose - to increase awareness of JHP on campus and bring in new people. Last week, Tamar became a JHP Fellow.

"I want to kick things up a notch, much more student involvement than we have now. I basically stepped into the JHP Fellow role last week. There is so much going on at NYU that I want to make the students much more aware of JHP. I would like to see more volunteering on a steady flow and have fun events with more variety. I want to open up JHP to make it more assessable to the students at NYU."

New at Penn

Amanda Nelson, in addition to JHP's community service lead, is now taking on the responsibility of being an assistant Fellow.

Samantha Prince will assist Amanda Nelson in the community service aspects of JHP on campus.

Steve Cymerman will be assisting Lauren Wolfson as the social lead and Jaclyn Brand will be the new mentoring lead.

JHP Wine Tasting in Charming Fitler Square

"Being involved in JBN for a relatively short time, I found it to be a high quality organization. As the activities are slow in the summer, I wanted to open up my home in Fitler Square to give members a laid back opportunity to network and enjoy each others company in a very relaxed environment.

Jewish Heritage Programs JBN is an inspiring, energetic organization based on great ideals to bring young Jewish professionals together and that excites me." - Elijah Dornstreich, Penn '97

The Jewish Business Network (JBN), founded in 1986, provides networking opportunities for business professionals in the Greater Philadelphia area. Prominent local business and political leaders address crowds at JBN's monthly Kosher luncheon series.

As an extension, the JBN Advisory Board was formed by young Jewish professionals who represent not only the future of the JBN, but the future of Jewish business in Philadelphia. The goal is to be active in many facets of Jewish society and to support Israel. One of the primary goals is to support Jewish Heritage Programs, the two most noted being financial and in mentoring Jewish college students.
