News Flashes for the Week
JHP Students in Israel
During student break, JHP Penn students along with other university students joined the Mayanot Birthright trip to Israel for an inspirational 10 days. Highlights of the trip have included Shabbos at the Kotel, in Jerusalum, historical Synagogues in Szaft, Masada, the Dead Sea, Bedoin Tent in the Negev, hiking in the Golan, and rafting down the Jordan River. The students experienced an inside look on the life of Jews in Israel and the sites and links that connect them to their glorious Jewish heritage. JHP Rabbis Ephraim Levin and Levi Haskelevich traveled with them as educational and spiritual guides.

Quote of the Week
“41/2 years ago, upon my arrival in Philadelphia, with no contact or acquaintances, JHP took me in and gave me a creative outlet for my traditional Jewish upbringing. For the life long friends I made and the people I have had the privilege of meeting, I am forever grateful.”
Shari Levine, Temple ‘06
JHP A Deeper Look
JHP engages unaffiliated college students with the richness of Jewish life at the crossroads of their lives. During college, students struggle to find out who they are, and more importantly, who they will become as adults. Over many years of working with college students we have seen one thing decisively: that a strong connection to Jewish community developed in these pivotal years will strengthen and deepen their Jewish commitment into adulthood. JHP provides these students with the opportunity to make that connection.
