JHP Weekly E-News "Florida Campuses Embrace JHP" April 9, 2008 in this issue:
JHP's Florida Initiative Travels to the University of Miami After a successful JHP launch into the University of Florida, JHP roused up students & mentors at the University of Miami with a kickoff event organized by Benjamin G. Mayer, Seth Heller, Nash Prince (JHP Student Director) & Mendi Fellig (Chabad Rabbi on Campus), coordinated by Jennifer Birch, April 2ndin preparation for a major program to be held April 16th. This was the first mentoring event ever & the first JHP event ever at the University of Miami. - JHP once again spreading its wellsprings - "JHP is a wonderful program that is needed in many Jewish metropolitan areas. The reason needed is to keep the continuity of the Jewish race, Jewish leadership & Jewish activism in the public & private sectors as well. JHP facilitates a platform that many programs do not fit the mold, thus giving JHP the ability to reach out to the Jewish population that would normally not be active or desire to be a part of the so called Jewish experience. My goal is not only to professionally mentor every Jewish student but to also establish longevity of a Jewish network & society within the Miamiarea to guarantee growth of our Jewish community & continue here in our Jewish family way of life." -Seth Heller, Vice President, Acquisitions & Dispositions, Grec Conversions, a regional real estate company based in Miami. JHP Kicks Off Mitzvah Week Last Sunday, directed by Lindsay Teich, JHP Fellow, Penn JHP interns bussed to the JRA warehouse in Northeast Philly & prepared Pesach care packages filled with Matzoh, Macaroons, Grape Juice & holiday goodies & later distributed them to Jewish families in the need for the holiday. - A great way to kickoff the JHP Mitzvah week at Penn - First Friday Shabbos, Der Kinderlach Steal the Show This last First Friday Shabbos, for the first time & as a tribute to the wonderment & inquisitiveness of Kinder (Children) during Pesach, art was on exhibit by Der Kinderlach depicting their spiritual interpretations of Pesach in addition to our talented professional artists whose works are continually on display. The innocence of youth & spiritual purity reflected in their art literally stole the show! This two year old JHP Jewish art initiative is bursting at
the seams. Every month, First Friday
Shabbos at the OCJAC explodes. The artwork is captivating, the Shabbos
experience kindling the Jewish spirit, the crowd ever growing, not only wall to
wall but down the steps, onto the sidewalk & out into the street, stopping
traffic. We are already outgrowing the space. As it now seems, we are a major
if not the main attraction at the First
Friday celebration in Old City, Philadelphia. Quick Links:
