  • Prominent, Acclaimed Mentors at JHP NY Event

Last Sunday, an acclaimed group of 19 prominent professionals, all having reached accolades in their profession attended a JHP Mentoring Event at the Chabad House, Upper East Side, in NYC for Binghamton & NYU students.

Amongst distinguished mentors representative of the group:

Ross Wallenstein: Mr. Wallenstein handles intergovernmental affairs - dealing with elected officials & staff from local, state & the federal governments, & coordinating Governor Spitzer's message among government agencies & officials. Also, Ross is Governor Spitzer's liaison to New York State's large Jewish community, for which he was named as one of NYC's "40 Under 40 Rising Stars" by City Hall News in September, 2007.

Liore Alroy: Liore Alroy became Net2Phone's Chief Executive Officer in October 2004. Since 2002, Mr. Alroy has been a strategic advisor to Net2Phone's executive team, helping them shape Net2Phone's cable telephony strategy. Prior to joining Net2Phone, Mr. Alroy was Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at IDT Corporation, where he had extensive experience with telecom ventures.

Elana Bekerman: Director of Special Programs, Intergroup Relations and Community Concerns at Jewish Community Relations Council Director of Special Programs at JCRC

Zoya Raynes: Client Portfolio Manager at Bear Stearns Asset Management. Previously, Chief Operating Officer at Pordule, Vice President Sales at Computershare, Institutional Sales and Trading at Salomon Smith Barney

Ross Wallenstein commented "Zoya Raynes is a friend of mine & that's how it came about. I think the mix of young professionals & college kids was impressive. The kids have a good understanding of what lies ahead & have some good insights in getting started in their careers. I suggested getting an internship somewhere."

"I was very happy to give back especially in the Jewish community. It is important that everyone understands the importance of mixing a Jewish life with their profession & JHP does a good job of encouraging that."

A complete list of mentors that attended can be viewed at Mentors March 2.

Retraction

Correction: Last week's e News erroneously listed the graduate Shabbat dinner at Hall of Flags as a JHP program. It was sponsored by Hillel's Jewish Graduate Student Network & Lubavitch House.

Thank you.
