"JHP, Jew Want To Join"

JHP at Binghamton is underway capturing the minds of inquisitive Jews on campus per JHP Fellow, David Schneid. A productive meeting with the lead interns fashioned ideas to spread JHP's wellsprings throughout Binghamton's campus.

JHP flyers & promotional literature are strategically posted at campus sites imbuing impressionable minds of new Jewish students. The JHP interns themselves are making & will proudly wear T-shirts artfully suggesting, "JHP, Jew Want To Join" to attract the 3000 or so Jews, 29% of Binghamton's enrollment on campus to JHP.

The students are also trying out new cool programs this semester, i.e. guacamole making with emphasis on exploring the religious culture of Latin American Jews. David & his interns are also implementing a famous Jew minute; a quick study of a notable Jewish figure at weekly meetings. Monthly intern bonding programs including more intern Shabbats and Havdallah happy time extravaganza's are in the works.

A Jewish Quest & Mentoring Success

"My Jewish life started differently than the average JHP intern. I immigrated to the United States when I was 7 under the status of a religious refugee. When we moved
to the states I didn't really know what it was to be Jewish because we weren't practicing Jews. I didn't even know I was Jewish until the age of 5.

I began to explore Judaism & in college gravitated towards JHP. I loved the events and was so moved by their friendly approach & purpose that I joined the organization as an intern. My junior year I was asked to serve as the assistant fellow for JHP at Temple University, which I gladly accepted and spent the entire year in that position.

Through JHP I went on the Birthright trip where I quickly fell in love with Israel.
Because of my love for Israel I chose to spend the first semester of my senior year at Tel Aviv University, the most amazing experience of my life.

Because of my involvement in JHP, particularly in the mentoring program, it was only natural for me to see if any mentors had internship opportunities in the marketing advertising industry. Jennifer Birch had passed on Michael Stalbaum's name, the CEO of Unreal Marketing & a JHP Mentor. I contacted him and arranged an interview. After interviewing with 4 Unreal Marketing executives I received and accepted an internship offer and will be starting on Tuesday, February 5th.

Upon graduation I also plan to stay involved with JHP hopefully transitioning into a mentoring role. If it wasn't for JHP I would not have discovered & developed my Jewish identity, or awarded this internship. I owe quite a lot to this organization." -
